Profile
Kotakiyama Kento (小滝山 健人) occupies a unique and historically significant place at Futagoyama Stable: he is the longest-serving active wrestler, having joined when the stable was first established in 2018. A native of Otawara, Tochigi Prefecture, Kotakiyama has been part of the stable's story from its very first days — making him a senior figure within the dojo regardless of his current ranking.
At 185cm and 138kg, Kotakiyama has the frame of a capable upper-division competitor. He holds the designation of uchi-deshi (内弟子), or inner disciple — a wrestler who lives in the stable master's household and receives direct personal instruction from the oyakata. This is a position of great trust and reflects the close relationship between Kotakiyama and stable master Futagoyama that has developed over nearly a decade.
His career high of Makushita 37 was reached in 2021, demonstrating genuine ability at the mid-Makushita level. Since then, his trajectory has been more modest, but his seniority and experience make him an invaluable training partner and mentor within the stable.
Adding to his unique story, Kotakiyama is the older biological brother of Soma Shinya (相馬 伸哉), who also competes at Futagoyama Stable. Both brothers hail from the Otawara area of Tochigi, and the fact that they share not just a family background but also a professional home is a notable element of Futagoyama Stable's human story. Kotakiyama's path through the professional ranks has provided his younger brother with an experienced guide and training partner from within the same family.
