Profile
Keiga Yuto (恵雅 悠斗) is an 18-year-old professional sumo wrestler from Otawara, Tochigi Prefecture, competing under Futagoyama Stable. At 186cm, he is one of the tallest wrestlers on the current Futagoyama roster, making him a physically distinctive presence in the lower divisions where wrestlers of his height are comparatively rare.
Keiga joined the stable in 2023 and is still in the foundational phase of his professional development. At 126kg, his weight is light relative to his height — a common situation for young wrestlers in their late teens who have not yet undergone the intentional weight gain that professional sumo training promotes. Over the next several years, his frame is expected to fill out considerably as daily keiko (training) and a high-calorie chanko nabe diet do their work.
Height in professional sumo is a double-edged attribute. Tall wrestlers can enjoy advantages in reach, leverage over shorter opponents, and certain throwing techniques. However, they also face challenges: a higher center of gravity makes balance and stability more demanding, and techniques that shorter wrestlers use to undercut tall opponents can be particularly effective. Managing and exploiting height requires sophisticated technical training.
From Otawara in Tochigi Prefecture, Keiga is a stablemate of Kotakiyama and shares the same home prefecture — an area with a notable tradition of producing sumo wrestlers. His development over the next few years is one to track, with his extraordinary height representing a ceiling of potential that, when matched with appropriate weight and refined technique, could propel him well into the upper divisions.
